John Robinson

Lot #60.

In memory of John Robinson, died December 7 1874, aged 47 years. Also his son Douglas, died July 18, 1863, aged fifteen months.

This is likely the same John Robinson who is recorded in the 1871 census for Fredericton as Irish, clerk, aged 42, married to Elizabeth, 36, with four children: John H., 12; Frederick W., 7; Charles E., 4; and Annie E., 1 year.

  1. I believe this John Robinson was my great great grandfather. his wif’e maiden name was Williams. His son,Frederick was my great grandfather. He married Elizabeth Naomi Mowry. They lived at Forest Hill just across the road from the Forest Hill Cemetery. The house is no longer there. Until the 1960’s it was still in the family being owned by Mark and Connie Guthrie. Connie,my father’s first cousin was a Robinson. Frederick and Elizabeth had five children that I know of. Fanny Robinson Long was my grandmother (spouse Percy G. Long) . Her siblings were Elizabeth, John Medley, Thomas (Connie’s father) and Alice. Frederick and Elizabeth, my great grandparents, are buried in the graveyard at Forest Hill. I believe that Thomas and his wife,Hazel (O’Leary) and their daughter,Pauline are also buried there. I wasn’t aware that some of my ancestors were in the Old Burying Ground. I’ll definitely visit there next time I’m in Fredericton.
Thank you. This information is very helpful.
